Privacy Notice

The Funeral Plan Scheme is a joint collaboration of Funeral Plan, participating credit unions, and participating funeral directors. The purpose of the Scheme is to promote funeral planning in Ireland in conjunction with credit union finance. The Scheme will offer a credit union member the opportunity to avail of a special loan interest rate when opting for this loan product, as well as a savings account, life savings insurance, and the option to nominate the proceeds of the savings account in line with the provisions of the Credit Union Act 1997 (as amended).

Whose Personal Data do we Process?

The scope of this Privacy Notice is where the Associated Entities act as individual data controllers, processing personal data of members of affiliated credit unions in order to provide relevant services to those members under the Scheme.

Processing Activities

Participating Credit Unions

The credit unions participating under this Scheme will process your data where you make a Funeral Plan loan enquiry on the funeralplan.ie website. The data processed will be limited to name, address, date of birth, and contact details in order to determine whether you are a member of that credit union and to provide you with information on how to become a member if you are not already one. Once it is established that you are a member, the credit union will assess your eligibility for a Funeral Plan loan. Once you enter into a credit agreement with the credit union, there will be no further processing of your data by the credit union under the Scheme, and any further processing will only take place in accordance with the credit union's own Privacy Policy.

Participating Funeral Directors

Participating Funeral Directors will receive the user's contact details if the user consents to be contacted by a particular participating Funeral Director. Alternatively, a participating Funeral Director may direct a prospective customer to the website prior to commencing the funeral planning process.

Funeral Plan

CU Awards Co CLG t/a Funeral Plan operates and maintains the funeralplan.ie platform, which markets the funeral plan products to credit unions, their members, the general public, and funeral directors. Funeral Plan controls the data entered by you in the Funeral Plan Enquiry Form and transfers this data securely to the relevant credit union and, if applicable, to a relevant participating funeral director.

Funeral Plan Enquiry Form

The Funeral Plan Enquiry Form located on www.funeralplan.ie has been developed to receive financial inquiries. This means that the person making the inquiry will enter their data into the form, and this data will trigger an email to the participating credit union and an email to Funeral Plan. The credit union will contact the member to determine eligibility for their services.

If you have ticked "I wish to be contacted by a participating Funeral Director," this will trigger an email to the relevant participating Funeral Director.

Lawful basis:

Consent:

When making an inquiry on funeralplan.ie, you are giving Funeral Plan and the relevant credit union (if applicable) your consent to contact you regarding your inquiry. An email will be sent to you detailing what information you have submitted in your inquiry, as well as the contact details of the credit union.

If you have ticked the box to be contacted by a participating Funeral Director, in addition to the email, an email will be sent to you.

If at any time you decide not to continue the journey with Funeral Plan and the Credit Union and wish to remove your consent to the processing of your data, you can contact Funeral Plan and the Credit Union using the details provided to you by email.

Contract:

Once you enter into a contract with the credit union for finance, the legal basis for processing your data will be in accordance with contractual obligations.

Retention:

Where an inquiry is made on the Funeralplan.ie website, an email is sent to the credit union and to Funeral Plan. Both entities will contact you separately regarding your inquiry. If you decide not to continue the journey with either the credit union, participating Funeral Director, or Funeral Plan, your inquiry will be deleted after 3 months.

Where you decide to continue the journey with the credit union or with Funeral Plan and enter a contract in relation to the relevant services, your details will be retained for the legally required time after the end of your contract.

Withdrawal of consent

If you wish to withdraw your consent to your personal data being processed by any of the associated entities, you can do so on the follow-up phone call with the participating credit union or with Funeral Plan subsequent to having submitted your inquiry, or at any time thereafter by contacting your credit union or Funeral Plan directly.

To whom do we share your data?

Funeral Plan will share limited information with the relevant participating credit union in order for you to receive the relevant information to apply for a funeral plan loan or to join the credit union. The participating credit union will never share information with the Associated Entities regarding your finances.

In addition, if instructed by you, Funeral Plan will share limited information with participating Funeral Directors in order to arrange a funeral planning appointment for you with a participating Funeral Director.
